Photography Styles

There are several different styles of Photography, and a particular Photographer may specialise or lean towards one specific style over the others.

Therefore it is important that you see the photographers work prior to booking them.

It is also very important for you to meet and talk to the Photographer as well. They will be around you, your family and friends for the majority of the day, and so you need to be able to get on with them, feel comfortable with them around you and be able to talk to them without hesitation.

Traditional Wedding Photography

This is a style of photography which is very formal in its' structure. Photographs are usually staged with specific groups and settings. Groups will generally include the standard 'Bride and Groom' shots, Brides family etc etc. This style of photography is used by many wedding photographers, but is quickly becoming out of vogue.

Reportage Wedding Photography

This is where the wedding photographer will follow your guests throughout the day, hopefully without them being aware of their presence. This can produce some fantastically natural images. It is a contemporary style, which if the shot works provides some outstanding photos.

Contemporary Wedding Photography

A more moden approach than the Traditional syle of wedding photography. It is very difficult to quantify as people can have different ideas of what this style actually is, and therefore could be problematic trying to express your requirements to your photographer. Roughly this style means 'fashionable' and so the style will be constantly changing and evolving.

Photo-Journalistic Wedding Photography

Another more informal approach to wedding photography, where the photographer mingles with you guests all day catching photos of 'the moment' as the day unfolds without any need for direction from the photographer. Due to the informal aspect of this style, the time required to dedicate to the photos is much reduced.

And of course don't forget my option which would fit into the Photo-Journalistic / Reportage Styles.
